About Us

Our Mission & Vision

LA Tech connects the Los Angeles tech community with untapped talent, opening doors to internships, jobs, and careers for the next generation of leaders.

We envision a Los Angeles tech community where global leaders and local talent grow together, creating career pathways that drive financial stability, leadership growth, and shared prosperity.

What We Do

We work alongside tech leaders to connect them with local, untapped talent to create new opportunities through tech exploration, career exposure, and hands-on experience.

Investing in LA

Our flagship paid internship for young Angelenos ages 18 to 24. Throughout 12 weeks, Rising Interns work on real projects guided by personal mentors and industry volunteers from leading tech companies — Microsoft, Metal Toad, Waymo, and more. Every intern gets weekly professional development and earns a Department of Labor-recognized AI Pre-Apprenticeship credential with an additional credential specific to their cohort track. Our Technical cohort runs every spring. In the fall, we run two concurrently: Technical and Business. The Business cohort covers business, marketing, AI, and sales. Our Creative Rising Internship runs through BMW Designworks in the summer. And because employers hire on their own timelines, we place interns year-round outside the rising cohort calendar as well.

Building Opportunity Together

The Academy is the on-ramp. Built with the LA County Department of Economic Opportunity, it prepares Opportunity Youth, currently with a focus on young people coming out of foster care, for a career in tech. In 12 weeks, Scholars get exposure to all four pathways rather than having to pick one on day one: technical, business, marketing, and creative. They can choose a direction at the end, once they have actually tried each. Every Scholar works with a peer coach to assist them in their career exploration. We provide the professional support: coaching, skill building, and career readiness. The things that most often derail a young person, housing, transportation, mental health, and benefits, are handled by the partner agencies we work alongside, who do that work far better than we could. Connecting Scholars to those agencies is part of the program, not an afterthought. Every Scholar earns the AI Pre-Apprenticeship credential. Many go on to a Rising internship or one of our other programs, and for those who are not ready for that yet, we offer continuing professional development opportunities. New Emerging Talent Academy cohorts launch throughout the year as the program grows. Our pilot cohort ran this Spring 2026, and our next cohort begins Fall 2026.

Leadership

Our broad reach and impact would not be possible without the dedication of LA Tech’s leadership and team. Together, they bring our mission and vision to life through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to student success.
